Committees and Task Forces

Affinity Groups

Affinity Groups meet once a year at the ASBH Annual Meeting and communicate throughout the year to exchange information among members with similar areas of interests and to serve as a source of information about the special interest area for the organization as a whole.

Awards Committee

The Awards Committee is a committee of the board that solicits nominations for the Lifetime Achievement Award, Distinguished Service Award, Cornerstone Award, and Student Paper Award and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Clinical Ethics Consultation Affairs (CECA) Committee

The CECA Committee supports the goals of health care ethics consultation and the development of health care ethics consultants' capabilities for meeting the needs of patients, staff, and health care organizations by creating, reviewing, and promulgating resources and engaging in other related activities. More information about the CECA committee is available.

Executive Committee

The President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Secretary, and Treasurer comprise the Executive Committee and are authorized to exercise the powers of the Board in the management of the business and affairs of the Society between meetings of the Board.

Health Care Ethics Consultation (HCEC) Certification Task Force

The HCEC Certification Task Force consists of 13 ASBH members who represent the diversity of HCEC roles—including but not limited to geographical region, educational background, practice setting, years of experience, race/ethnicity, and gender. The task force will work with psychometricians to develop a feasibility study and role delineation survey, as the first steps in the development of a HCEC certification program.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee consists of six members. Each year, two members are elected by the membership to serve two-year terms, one member is appointed by the ASBH Board of Directors to serve a one-year term, and the Immediate Past President serves ex officio.

Program Committee

The Program Committee consists of four people, each of whom is appointed to serve a two-year term. Two members join and two rotate off the committee each year. All committee members are involved in the planning process and the selection of proposals. The finals decisions rest with the chair of the committee.
